One of three Kahnawà:ke Education Center schools,Kahnawake Survival School (KSS)is a secondary-level school with a mission to produce proud and self-sufficient Kanien'kehá:ka youth through a powerful curriculum based on Kanien'kehá:ka language, beliefs, and traditions. Established in 1978 in protest of the implementation of Bill 101 in Quebec schools,KSS establishes a strong cultural foundation in which students may build their Kanien'keha:ka identity upon.

Kahnawake Survival School is divided into two departments: Middle School (Grades 7-8) and Senior School (Grades 9-11). Throughout their years at KSS, students are educated in:

• Kanien'kéha
• Social Studies
• Math
• Science
• Language Arts
• Computer Technology
• Exploratory (Art and Carpentry).

The school offers Kanien'kéha (Mohawk language) classes-students are placed in a class that best suits their Kanien'kéha language proficiency-that instill in students the various grammar and language rules, relevant vocabulary, and an overview of Kanien'keh:katraditions, legends, and ceremonial practices.

In addition, the KSS Social Studies classes provide students with historical knowledge that begins Pre-Contact, with events such as the Great Law of Peace being explored.

With a dedicated French Department, students will be adopt a third language to better prepare themselves for future work and education beyond KSS.

In addition to academics, after-school sports programs-such as wrestling and volleyball-are offered throughout the year.
