Social & Emotional Supports

Social Counselor

Listens to students’ concerns about academic, emotional or social problems. They help students process their problems and plan goals and actions.

Drama Therapist

Organize sessions using drama and theater-based activities to explore and reflect on the attitudes and behaviors of individuals experiencing various social and emotional challenges.

Special Education Technicians

Working with a multidisciplinary team to apply special education techniques and methods. They help to support students with individualized education plans, social maladjustments, learning difficulties, or behavioral challenges.

Psychotherapist

A mental health professional who treats a broad range of serious emotional issues, including past trauma, mental illness, and chronic problems. The goal is to help people understand their patterns of thinking and behavior, and develop the skills to manage stress and improve relationships

Art Therapist

Provides weekly sessions that use creative tools and mediums, like sculpting, painting, drawing and collages, with the aim of promoting emotional, creative and spiritual growth for their clients. They use guided exercises to help clients express themselves through art. Art therapists work with a wide range of patients who have a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, past trauma, PTSD, phobias and behavioral disorders.

Educational Supports

Resource Teachers:

To provide educational services in both 1-on-1 and general education settings to students who require specialized instruction and support. They create and update individualized education plans for students and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support students to close the gaps in their learning.

Transition Counselor:

Assist students with college applications, jobs and scholarships. They also support students transitions into high school and the process of choosing courses.

Collaboration with KSCS prevention team:

To support students in learning and discussing important topics such as respect, health and safety, substance misuse, etc.
